- Zurich is Switzerland’s largest and most known city, and yet not its capital. ( Berne is the Capital).
- The city earlier, had a Roman named called Turicum.
- There are more than 1200 drinking fountains for the public in Zurich.
- In medieval times, women held many political positions in the region from 853 AD to the 14th century.
- The city center holds a church for ladies called Fraumunster, which was founded in 853 AD. One can still see the Frau Munster diagonally opposite a Ladies’ Swimming pool !
- Zurich has the largest church clock in Europe, with a diameter of almost 9 Meters.
- Zurich city was bombed twice accidentally during word war II. Although Switzerland itself declared itself as a neutral country for both the World Wars.
- In Switzerland, you can spell Zurich in six different ways in various official languages which is English, Twice in German, Romansh, and also a nickname – Zurich, Zürich, Turitg, Zurigo, Zuerich, Züri .
- Europe’s largest street techno party is hosted in Zurich, where millions of wildly dressed people parade the streets for the event.
- Zurich has an impressive main railway station, the HauptBahnHof, which itself is a sight for tourists, with about 2000 connections per day and can take you to all parts of Europe.
