While Europe as a destination is known as a dream destination, it is not without good reasons.

Europe’s Promotions are largely by the depiction of the places in the movies. Same with the world. you have a nice storyline, preferably a love story, with Europe as its background, then be sure it is going to be a surefire profit maker for its producers. For knowledge some movies shot in Europe become direct promotions in places like India. There are many tourist offices from various countries which come over to Mumbai and offer the best of hosting, Freebies for shooting in certain locales, just to promote tourism of their country in India.

Similarly Europe has been an age old depiction of fantastic locales, the mountains, the snow, the greenery, the romance in some of its cities like Venice, Paris etc.

Even in some epic movies like the 1970 movie Love story – the hero of the film Ryan O’Neil proposes to take his wife to Europe .

Lately a lot of James Bond movies have been shot in certain parts of Europe, boosting queries of those particular places . the 1969 James Bond movie – “On her majesty’s secret service’’ has boosted tourism in the Swiss mountain top called Shilthorn.

Apart from Movies Europe does have that something for everyone to go visit and do – Sun, Mountains, Snow, Beautiful locales, Exotic languages, Colorful local dresses like the Scottish Kilts. etc.

Within Europe it is Switzerland which is mostly on the minds of Indians who would like to travel to Europe

SWITZERLAND –

Switzerland is indeed a very very beautiful place,

It has mountains, snow, History, Monuments, as well as 3 major languages in its 8 million odd population.

Every street of Switzerland is picture perfect, Most of its cities are also very beautiful. The capital city of Berne is one of the most beautiful capitals of the world.

Zurich is the commercial capital. with everything it it – cafes , restaurants, hotels, nightlife, lake, rivers, mountains, boating, etc. even its churches are superb to look at, by the way there is a special church for ladies called ‘Frau Munster”.

Lucerne – you don’t go to Lucerne, you climb into a picture of it. its lake, the iconic wooden bridge ( Kepplebrucke) the the huge lion monument with a lion carved on a rock across a pond is a very pretty sight. Even the toilet at the lion monument is built beautifully.

Mountain tops – seems to be the highlights of Switzerland with about half a dozen Mountain tops to choose one, the most popular ones are of course Jung Frau Jock and Mount Titlis. Here Titlis is a more popular choice as you can actually get on the glacier for snow activities where as for Jung Frau Jock you can go up to the summit and have a view. ( Titlis is even more popular as it is about half the rate as Jung Frau Jock, which is around 3000 feet higher than Titlis.

Zermatt is divine, also Glacier3000 where there are lot of activities.
